Please Call Later

Some decades ago meeting personally or landline letters were main modes of personal interaction. Then telephones made their advent. Phones were few and costly so everyone could not afford this luxury! Then it reached masses with expensive long distance calls. People would say to each other ‘Dear I would call you daily when our calling areas are merged and no long distance rates are applicable.' There were days when waiting lists of intended phone subscribers would run into years. In 70's and 80's here in India people used to book phone connections years in advance. Now the waiting lists have virtually disappeared and phone connections are provided within 24 hours. Personal communications were few and far between and they had an attraction. Now-a-days people are logged in 24 hours and ‘I‘d really call you then...' is replaced by ‘Do we need to communicate daily?? No dear, we can talk only sometimes!!' Too much easy communication kills the excitement ......

I agree Mahesh.  Cell phones are rampant everywhere and I am sick and tired of them!  the other day I was in the ladies restroom (toilet) and the woman in the stall next to me's phone started ringing.  She actually answered it!  Sitting there on the toilet, talking on the phone!  Can you imagine if the person she was talking to knew where she was while she was talking to him?   How romantic!  I noticed that women were waiting in line to get into a toilet so I yelled over to the lady “Hey, hang up the damn phone and get out of there, people have to pee!”  She just kept right on gabbing as if I hadnt said a word.  I hoped the person on the other end of the phone heard me anyways!  And dont even get me started on people driving with cell phones glued to their ear!  I bet there are more accidents caused by this than driving intoxicated (I'd love to see the statistics).  In closing, I do agree that “absense makes the heart grow fonder” and when you are on the phone or even computer with someone every day, or several times a day, what on earth do you have to talk about of any value?

when you care for someone then even tons of communication is not sufficient, so no need to worry about what can be talked about daily. The things never come to an end for fonder hearts. You know there are jokes that people sometimes take their laptops with them to toilet :)))) thats the ultimate addiction of communication… you have to answer mobile anytime and all time, especially in business. I answer them while driving my bike :( dont like that but have to, sometimes I stop to answer but not always. But one thing is sure I never carry my mobile or answer it in toilet :))))
