HUH MISERS :-)

I do not watch TV anymore, but these days I listen to radio in mornings and evenings. The FM radio set which I have catches only one station. Its AIR (All India Radio) VB Service with many entertaining, informative and funny programs. This service starts at 6 in morning and ends 11 at night. If I put a dish antenna on my roof top I can listen and watch to a lot of channels under DTH (Direct to Home) free service 24 hours a day. But I think that'll be too much. Only one channel is sufficient. A few years back I used to watch TV with religious dedication, sometimes even for 8 or more hours a day!! I don't want to repeat that with radio. Of course radio is more liberating than TV. It does not make us a couch potato, eyes are not strained and don't make us as dumb as TV makes. I miss kiddie animation series on TV - Alibaba, Mask, Mickey Mouse, Tom & Jerry, Popeye etcetera etcetera, but it's ok.

Some advertisements are really funny. In one advertisement which is broadcasted many times a day father of a bride wants to stop the rituals of marriage because the clothes of bridegroom and his party are not washed with his choicest detergent & he think they look dirty! He does not want to starve his daughter in the house of misers who don't even want to spend 40 paise to wash a cloth with that particular brand. Father of boy assures him that once the ceremonies of marriage are over he will at once get the clothes of all his guests washed with that brand :))). Advertisement people always come up with innovative ideas to sell products. My clothes are not washed with that brand and they look fine and I am sure that I won't starve anyone :)) .
